Island Grill Ayala Center Cebu
One of the famous foodcourt restaurants here in Cebu ,Island Grill Ayala Center Cebu is now expanding its food establishment in a more fastfood chain like setup in their new location branch in Ayala Center Cebu, formerly a foodcourt store which was located near the cinemas, their new place is now more presentatble and cozy, not that really big but just right enough to accomodate 20-25 persons.
If love authentic Filipino food and want fast service similar to a restaurant, then Island Grill is a perfect place for you. Unlike other traditional Filipino Restaurant where you have to sit and wait for minutes until you food is ready and served whether dine in or take out. Island Grill is good for busy professionals who just want a quick Filipino dine in experience.
When you enter their new location, you can immediately see their delicious food display up in front, you can also see the grill station where they actually cook your preferred dish so that they will be still fresh when they will be served in your tables.
The ambiance is quite bright which is lively which will help increase your appetite (psychologically). You can also the colorful wallpaper which first I thought was a painting.
Service is quite fast as expected. You can choose from a large variety of Filipino dishes and they will be served immediately after a few minutes (for grilled dish). There menu consist of mainy Filipino dishes and grilled stuffs. You can also see other familiar dishes as well like leche plan, grilled chicken, pork , squid, etc.
They also have grilled fish as well like the tanguige. Also chorizo and the chicharon bulaklak. I was also surprised to see other Filipino food like the Batchoy which is starts 65 pesos only served in a large bowl which can be good for 2, the noodles strands of their batchoy is also made and baked by the store itself exclusive for Island Grill. (much cheaper than those ramen dish). Other rare filipino dish served is the binignit which is only seasonal in some food establishments but served in Island Grill anytime of the day.
They also have their own family recipe which they past on from different generation and made in the Island Grill’s 20 years in the food business. Their “Bico in a latik” is one of the best I have ever tasted, the bico and the latik(Sugar filling) are separated and treated like a sauce which blends just exactly right in your mouth. It is a must try.
Their grilled dishes are quite decent for a fastfood type, which really requires precision in terms of cooking and the right mix of ingredients and spices. Though I can sense that it is a little salty (for my taste), it is still a decent dining experience especially when you are in a mall 😀
Overall it was a good dining experience, food is good, service is fast and the ambiance is just right for a quick filipino food dining experience, we also got the chance to meet the owners which establishes a good customer and bloggers/media relationship. Island Grilled is a must if you love Filipino with a fastfood service experience.
