- Sweet and Spicy Crab – 250 pesos[/caption]
Seafood restaurants are becoming a hit not only in the resorts or restaurants near the beach but also in the malls and the city as well, and if you are fond of eating crabs then you must check this restaurant, the Crazy Crab Cebu Restaurant.
Located at Gaisano Country Mall in Banilad, Cebu City. Beside an Indian Restaurant.
In front of the resto you can immediately see the crabs in the aquarium for you to choose from. Though main dish are crab dishes, you can chose other dishes from their menu.
The place is a bit rowdy, I’m not sure if that’s part of their theme of cowboy eating since you can eat the food with your bare hands. Chairs and tables are ordinary and interiors are just ordinary.
In the walls you can definitely tell what they serve here and the remains of it, the Crab’s back shell is displayed in the walls with written messages on it. Think of it like a post-it-note but instead of using paper notes they used the crabs back shell which is somehow unique. Of course they are properly cleaned or it will stink. 🙂
For their food, we were a bit lucky because we got the last crab in the house so we get the little guy out on the aquarium to be prepared in our tables.
They have a bit of contradiction in their menu, because the prices of their crabs mainly depends on their weight rather than their servings. So if your chosen crab is heavier than the normal, than the price is higher that what is in the menu itself . Anyways, they will inform you and will weigh the crab in front of you so it’s for you to decide whether to take it or not.
We also ordered their side dishes, since we are already going in for the crab, why not add another seafood in the table. So we ordered their shrimp gambas which is a familiar dish in many seafood restaurants.
The service is ok, their staff are friendly and immediate to our request and food is served just in a few minutes.
The Sweet chilly Crab is one big crab and thus contain more meat than the normal one, the taste is good especially with the sweet chilli sauce which neutralizes the spices. Though you need some skill to get the meat part thankfully they broke some parts for our convenience.Just be careful in getting the meat with your bare hands as some shell parts are sharp and pointy (yes, I got a scratch out from it).
Their shrimp gambas is ok, but the serving is quite small, I mean the sauce contains more serving than the actual shrimp itself which is a bit disappointing for the price range.
Also their one cup of rice is like a 1/4 cup which is not good. They could have offer unlimited rice to attract more customers like me 😀
Overall the dining experience is good but a bit too pricy and not for a full stomach meal. Many of the visitors here are tourist so it’s more of a one time taste plus picture plus check in plus publish to social media thing rather than enjoy real food goodness.
