Though it is rare to find a Spanish restaurant here in Cebu, we have been eat their dish since the Spanish era and still do today even in our home cook meals. So what is the difference dining in a Spanish restaurant.
We tried one Spanish restaurant located along Foodland Banilad Cebu City, the Katsinoy ( Kastila Pinoy) is a Spanish Restaurant & also part of a Antique shop beside it with the same owners
The interiors are like a Spanish home theme with mostly wooden stuffs & furnitures similar in the Spanish era, you can also see paintings & some artifacts as the decore. The place is not that very big but it has a sort of conference room for private dining.
From their menu, you can see some familiar Filipino dishes and some Spanish inspired dish as well. Prices are a bit above average. They have a kids menu which I think is an equivalent to a value meal.
We tried their sizzling beef cubes which is beef pochero and is quite expensive for its serving size (279 pesos), it does not have rice included!. The dish is not that hot anymore when it was served in our tables. Taste is ok but it’s just plain pricy.
Next we ordered their Cerdo Asado which is a grilled pork medallion with fries. Serving size is ok for its price (189 pesos) again, it is not hot when served which indicates if it is a newly cook dish or not. Fries is quite a good addition to the plate.
Then we tried their Pork sisig which brings justice in their food which is a Filipino food and is the best in our table.
Sisig is a Kapampangan term which means “to snack on something sour”. It usually refers to fruits, often unripe or half-ripe, sometimes dipped in salt and vinegar. Wikipedia
The sourness and the spices with the pork is just perfect and its grilling hot when it was served in our table. Just a great sisig dish.
Overall it was a good meal but a bit pricy and there maybe other Filipino restaurants that offer more affordable Spanish/Filipino food.
1. Sisig is a must try.
2. There is an antique shop beside the restaurant which has also the same owner.
3. They have a conference room/section for private ocassions.
