Dong Juan revitalizes its restaurant with new dishes in the menu and improved overall taste and service. Though they have been in the industry for a long time in Cebu. They still try improve the food and the restaurant in General.
They have a lot of branches here in Cebu, some are company owned and some are franchised. The restaurant is called “Dong Juan” because they to served the “Dongs” (Cebuano for common folks) with high quality food similar or on par with high class restaurants.
The restaurant theme is a Filipino with Spanish inspiration in terms of interior design. Place is dim lighted with warm colors. The menu is also a mixed of Filipino and Spanish fusion dishes.
We tried their appetizers, the mozzarella sticks, were it tastes good and best consumed when hot otherwise it will be rubbery. Then the Chili Wings, don’t expect it to be very spicy because it is not, serving is quite small but I like the sauce they used for the wings.
In their main dishes, they served their Dong Juan Fried Rice which is a staple food for every Juan (get it 🙂 ) all I can say is I loved it , texture is good mixed with egg, vegetables, herbs and other ingredients in making fried rice.
Next is their seafood soup, which is more like a tinola with Dory fish fillet, squid, egg and vegetables, though I’m not a fan of the stainless pail bow (rather prefer an glass bow) , the taste reminds me of my mothers tinola at home which I missed.
Then Baby Back ribs in barbecue sauce, which I didn’t expect to be that good, I mean I’ve been to other restaurants where they specialized in Baby Back Ribs, Dong Juans version of their ribs is really tasty , the delicious sauce perfectly blends with the meat(ribs) which is also very tender and soft, it’s almost you can eat the bones too 😀
The All Meat Pochero is one of my favorites, aside from the plating (which has the name of the restaurant), meat and the sauce is properly blended and not to salty.
Since their launching, they served this pasta which is a favorite by their loyala customers, and this time they make new varieties in the their pasta dishes.
The Gambas pasta is perfect for shrimp lovers where the firm pasta is mixed with shrimp and other condiments with their unique tabliya (cocoa) bread.
For Chorizo lovers, they have the Spanish Chorizo Pasta with Cacao De Bola where chorizo bits are mixed with the pasta.
Any my favorite in their pasta dishes is the Carbonara with Cacao De Bola, where cocoa bits are place in the pasta that creates this unique flavor of mild sweet that also neutralizes the saltiness of the pasta.
For their dessert, they have this Mug Cake where you can choose flavours from Dark Fudge, Red Velvet, Salted Caramel, Crunchy Cookie Bitter and S’mores.
Also try their Kalamansi Blush which is a Dong Juan Original, it is an infusion of real fresh strawberries and Calamansi.
They are also launching their Dong Juan Tablea collection where it is inspired by locally made tablea from Ralfe Chocolate Gourmet. Where tablea does not have to be limited to drinks and dessert but can also serve as great flavor for main dishes like pasta and bread
Dong Juan Restaurant
They also offer the Kid’s Menu where all dishes com with a side of broccoli and ice tea to be launched this August.
