“This festival really puts the spotlight on the Cebu lechon, a world-class and truly Filipino dish hailed by many as the world’s best pork dish. We have gathered Cebu’s finest lechon-makers in Mactan Alfresco as we look to share this unique culinary experience to local and foreign tourists, while immersing them to the rich Cebuano culture through cultural performances and fun activities,” says Kevin Tan , senior vice president and head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.
A wide selection of lechon dishes from Cebu’s top lechon-makers plus amazing deals on the Cebuano delicacy will greet guests at Mactan Alfresco during the festival’s run, while live entertainment featuring musical and cultural performances will provide an added treat to dining guests every evening.
Mactan Alfresco is also offering an even more immersive way of experiencing the world-famous delicacy through its very own Lechon Pit. Guests can witness firsthand how the lechon is made—from seasoning to roasting at the coal pit to being chopped and served on their own plates. To learn more about the history of Cebu, educational installations and interactive displays about Lechon will also be placed around in the venue.
The celebration kicks up a notch on July 29 and 30, where guests can take part in traditional Filipino games like habulang biik, pabitin, palo sebo and more, and bring home exciting treats and prizes.
Meanwhile, another must-see culinary spectacle awaits guests on August 3, at the Lechon Cooking demonstration, where Cebu’s finest lechon-makers are expected to battle it out for a chance to be hailed as the province’s best.
Highlighting the festival is the much-awaited Grand Lechon Parade, happening on August 4. Culinary schools and representatives from barangays will also take part in cooking demos featuring different and never-seen-before Lechon recipes. To further boost the festive mood, a street dance competition and live performances will also be held at the venue.

Are you looking for new a restaurant free from the busy streets in the City or just want to hangout and dine aside from the usual mall restaurants? then Third Degree Charred Bar and Grill Cebu is the perfect place for you.
The name Charred in Third Degree Charred Restaurant comes from the owners name Richard (Charred).
Located along Quano Avenue, Third Degree Charred Bar and Grill Restaurant is an outdoor dining place where you have the view outside the venue. They can accommodate up to 60 persons and accept exclusive usage of the place for events, parties etc.
The place is cozy, since it is a semi outdoor type, it is perfect for chilling out with your drinking buddies as well as eating their delicious food. They have also plans in putting a small band in the corner to add a lively ambiance in the place.
They have a lot choices in the menu, you can choose according to your preference.
For their food, they mainly serve Filipino with Chinese Fusion cuisine. Though most of the their dishes are grilled which you can see right in the venue itself.
The Crispy Pata is also well cooked from all sides, meat is tender, it is not that oily even though it is deep fried and just taste as good as other crispy patas.
If you are not into pork or chicken, then you can order their tunga panga which is fresh and tasty.
Next ,we tried their pork barbecue, you can tell that it is fresh and juicy from the fact that you can see the actual grilling itself. They are really delicious and recommended if you happen to visit in Third Degree Charred Cebu.
They also serve alcoholic beverages which is good if you want to hangout with your friends and just have a good time.
Aside from grilled and fried dishes they also have the Pork Pochero where you can just enjoy and sip the very tasty soup broiled with the pork bones and meat. Perfect for family and groups of friends who likes Filipino food.
Then their Kinamatisan Kawali which is my favorite of them all. The taste is similar to bicol express with more pork and tomatoes in it which is what I like.
One their appetizers served is the Crispy Kangkong which is quite good to be honest. It’s not too oily and it’s just like eating a chicharon 🙂
Overall, Cebu Third Degree Charred Grill and Bar is a great new place to hangout if you prefer to dine outside malls or the usual bar and grill restaurants. Aside from it is outside the busy traffic streets ,it is also a more private and quiet alternative place to bring your family an friends when you dine here in Cebu.
I remember when I was still in college where a small cozy bar called “Pipeline” is the place to be when you want to enjoy, hangout and have a drink with your friends, for 12 years, Pipeline is still kicking and it is the preferred destination by many here in Cebu, it is probably one of the oldest running Cebu bar and hangout place in Cebu. And now they are moving in Salinas drive (near Metrosports) where they still offer drinks and delicious food for its loyal and new customers. This time they are open for 24hours except Sundays.
The Cebu Pipeline Salinas branch is much more spacious and cooler to hangout since it is an open space and tables are not very close to each other. They also have billiard pool if you prefer to play with your friends.
“It is called Pipeline, because the owner loves to go to the beach and surf and the barrel where the wave is hollow and where the surfers go inside resembles a pipeline”
Aside from their drinks they have a lot of food to offer for a bar, and they have a lot of choices which will keep you come back for more.
One of their dish which is yet to be served to the public is their Crocodile sisig, inspired by the crocodile sisig in Palawan, they make it a way that it is more affordable and delicious as well, and we are not definitely not disapppointed since it is tasty and not too oily nor salty, in fact, you can never tell or see that it is a crocodile made dish.
Then we tried their Breaded Cheese Stick which is a great appetizer for any meals.
One of their best dishes is the Pipeline wingers which best paired with their drinks. The chicken is just cooked right and you can tell that the chicken is freshly cooked from the first bite and not from a frozen one.
If you prefer a spicy alternative, they have the Chucky’s Spicy Wings. The sauce spiciness is just right and best paired with beer 🙂 A great dish to spice things up. The taste is on par with other popular spicy chicken wings place here in Cebu.
Do you know that they also served Carbonara Pasta? it is not common to serve this kind of dish in a bar but they still do for those pasta lovers and want a heavy meal before drinking.
Not only they served Carbonara but spaghetti as well! Heck if your celebrating your birthday in Pipeline, why not order their spaghetti which is taste equally great or better than most fastfood restaurants.
In every bar around town serving drinks, it would not be complete they don’t have pizzas. They served different flavors like the Hawaiian, Italian Sausage and many more. They also serve this is 12 inch and a big 21 inch. Their pizzas tastes really great, the crust is soft and the toppings are fresh and well cooked.
Their drinks are also available which is for me affordable than the other mid to high end bars around Cebu. I mean if you just want a to relax and have a drink with your friends after a long day at work especially if you are near in IT Park then Pipeline is the perfect place fo you.
They have many other dishes to try as well. Aside from their dine in food and drinks. They also deliver their food and pizza right at your doorsteps, they also offer silog meals in the morning or daytime.
Pipeline is still one of the most consistent bar restaurants here in Cebu and they are revamping their offerings that will cater both the loyal and new customers, their food and drinks are great and affordable, place is accessible and no other dramas, just sit, chill, drink and bond with your friends.

Restaurants these days can offer you a lot of choices when it comes to food, while some are also selling concept aside from their dishes. And that’s what Rodeo Grill is offering to its customers.
If you have been to their restaurant (Located in SM City Cebu), just getting inside the place, you can immediately tell that they are a Wild West themed establishment, a cowboy theme for some. It is a Cebuano based restaurant which is also owned by a Cebuano.
There is also in the culture inside the restaurant which is unique. Their waiters are called partners and their boss are called Sheriffs which is quite fun to know. It also improves their customer service by having the passion of doing the cowboy themed ambiance.
They offer dishes that are mostly meat and sizzlers which is popular in the wild west. Since they are here in Cebu, they have to balance between making the food western style and having the traditional flavors Filipino like or used to eat. For Cebuanos its more salty while in Manila its more sweet.
For their food, they have a lot of choices to choose from. They have sizzlers, baby back ribs, drinks and desserts. Their chefs are also well trained in making these dishes. In fact, their head chef was a former chef in Doha serving the King.
What I like about their food is that it is served hot and fresh. One of my favorite is their baby back ribs which they confidently told us that it is the best in town even better than those popular restaurants serving baby back ribs (Casa Verde) which is quite true when I tried it. Just hope they will be consistent in having a great taste food.
The food presentation is also good as it is served with their grilling plate if you’re ordering their sizzling dishes.
They make comfort food the makes you feel at home which they maintain that flavor Filipinos like. They also served alcoholic beverages like beer but they only served it to foreigners since they are the customers who mostly ask for beer beside their food. They also wanted it to be more family and barkada friendly for Filipino customers.
Aside from main dishes, they also serve desserts, they have this Mango Ice Box Cake, which is popularly know here as Mango Float, it was actually great and the mango is sweet which just melt in your mouth with the cream.
I was not expecting to see a Blueberry cheesecake in the menu but I was luck to try it, not only it looks good but tasted good as well.
Then there’s the Choco Bang Bang which is a brownie filled with ice cream, which is just heavenly in the taste buds. Hope their serving size improves 🙂
Overall, it was a great dining experience, it feels like your in the Wild West while eating their food and still maintain that local taste and flavor that well balanced and definitely will satisfy your hunger while experience something new and unique. I definitely recommend Rodeo Grill restaurant for those who loves meat and wants to feel a cowboy in a day 🙂

Dining in Cebu is becoming well diverse when it come to variety and food choices. Certain food choices are coming from different countries thus many restaurants offering like Chinese food, Japanese food, Indian food etc. Now we have Levatine or Arab food like shawarma wraps and rice.
Now it has a restaurant version that offers authentic Levatine and Arab food and it is finally here in Cebu, the “Shawarma Gourmet”
Located in Parkmall Mandaue Cebu (beside Kublai Khan), you will immediately recognize the restaurant with its Arabic/ Levantine ambiance inside. Decorated with wallpapers of patterns of shapes and colors. Place is quite narrow but just enough to cater 20-30 persons.
Even outside the restaurant, you will notice the preparation of shawarma meat (beef and Chicken) which is also common in shawarma stalls. It is done in a vertical spit where meat is slowly roasted and then slice to be served.
Shawarma has various ingredients particularly with onions, tomatoes and other spices.
One of their dish is the Shawarma platter where it is served with fries, pita bread, mized pickles tahini or garlic saice or hummus, you can choose the chicken or beef for the meat. Serving is good for 2
One thing about their shawarma is that you will be served with the pita bread and the ingredients and you have to wrapped the ingreadients yourself in the Pita bread according to your preference.
You can also try their Pita bread chips which is one of my favorites, it is best paired with a garlic dip.
When you are in a Arab/Levantine restaurant, better try their hummus (which is best paired with Pita bread).
Hummus or houmous is a Levantine and Egyptian food dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas or other beans, blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. Today, it is popular throughout the Middle East (including Turkey), North Africa (including Morocco), and in Middle Eastern cuisine around the globe.
When there are Shawarma wraps, there will be Shawarma rice for those who love rice (especially us Filipinos).
Of course, if you want your shawarma to be served already wrap and just eat it right away, you can always order the regular wrap. 🙂
Dining in at Shawarma Gourmet feels like you are in a real Arab/middle east establishment
Overall, one of th most complete Levatine/Arab restaurant I have visited here in Cebu, lots of varieties and choices in their menu. They really offer authentic Shawarma food and it tastes great. Even one of their chefs is from Lebanon and their staff is friendly and service is good. If you are craving for that Shawarma wrap/rice and want to dine in a restaurant then Shawarma Gourmet is a must visit.
