Cebuanos not only love delicious food but also different kinds of drinks which is evident in the growth of Coffee and Cafe shops around Cebu. One particular drink that is now very popular is the Milk Tea also known as “pearl milk tea” which is a type of drink where tea is sweetened with evaporated milk.

I heard a lot of bad feedback about Gong Cha SM City Cebu, not really sure if how they defined/tasted it or what they are comparing with it. It is also an international brand that already exists in various countries in Asia which is a bit odd for its name. I guess this one of the reasons why I tried their drinks (other than passing by here for many times and ignoring it :D).
Anyways, the store is located along the hallway near supermarket (beside Potato corner). They also have a small place infront with tables and chairs exclusive for Gong Cha customers.
Gong Cha SM City Cebu
Their drinks menu choices is quite a lot for a small store. Aside from Milk Tea they offer other varieties like their House Special,Ice Cream Special, Creative Mix and others, so you really won’t run out of choices.
I tried of course their Milk Tea and the flavor is the Winter Melon (one of the most popular flavors in a Milk Tea) and Gong Cha chocolate to my companion.
Contrary to the most reviews I have heard, it is not that bad in terms of taste and flavor though it is not also the best. It is still a decent drink, though not really sure what it taste like in other branches especially outside the country, but the Milk Tea I ordered tasted good.
Overall, great quick drink if you find yourself strolling around SM City Cebu and just want to quench that thirst for Milk Tea on the spot then you can try this one and add it to your Milk Tea List experience.
Serenitea Cebu IT Park – I’ve seen this Milk Tea shop featured a local television. They are the pioneer milk tea shops in the country and their story started in just a small branch which started to grow very much faster than a wild fire. Now, they are putting their first branch here in Cebu right in the middle of the Cebu IT Park ,in the Calyx Centre Condominium (ground floor), across “The Walk”.
It has been a long time since I reviewed a milk tea or any drinks/beverages in particular, and the thought that it will just go down the trend is an understatement. This Chinese New Year, a new Taiwanese restaurant here in Cebu (J Center Mall) has opened its doors to those who wants to taste the freshly brewed tea made from real leaves (that’s their slogan). So my expectations is a bit high on this one because we all know that Taiwan is the origin of the Milk Tea, by the way its name is “Ersao”
Since I have been to different milk tea shops here and almost visited them all during the fast growth of milk tea shops here in Cebu (maybe I missed some) but these Milk Tea shops stand out from the rest, so this is based from a personal perspective and round them up according to
So without further adieu, here are my picks for the top Milk Teas in Cebu
Top Milk Tea Shops in Cebu
5. Cobo Milktea – Most of their branches are located in Malls, so it is very easy to spot them, they have also other branches outside Cebu, I included it in my list because of the convenience of location though their Milk Teas are not really that bad, it is more like a common taste and a quick savor of drink and more of an take out kind of beverage.
4. Chatime Cebu IT Park – This Milk tea shop just opened last quarter of 2012 , which is also hyped by many Cebuanos because of it’s popularity in other branches particularly in Manila. They offer high quality Milk Teas flavor and the taste justify the expectation of an avid Milk tea fan,
Location is in the middle of the working population which is great, though the ambiance is just a little to bright (for me) which in indicates an active feel which is more for of louder meeting place than a relaxing one. Presentation is good and clean. Preparation and order does not seem rush though.
3. Moonleaftea – This cozy milk tea shop has a very unique distinction when it comes to taste, though their choices are not that much, but they really know how to capture the flavor and taste of their drinks. Yes, it is a good milk tea to enjoy.
The Milk tea shop is near the school so most of the customers are students and it is nice to see the serene environment where they can just study and read their books and a little chat while enjoying the drink which does not attract much attention which personally is an essential factor if you want a quiet and serene environment to enjoy your drink.
2. Sprockets Milk Tea – This is one of my favorite , not only that their milk tea is good, they have a lot of varieties food dishes to choose from. The taste of their milk tea is also top notched, not to mention their spacious place and the well decorated interiors ( lomo wall).
The place is also a good place to relax with well placed seats and tables and also a good place to chat and even business meetings, customers are combined students and professionals so it is more all around spot to visit.
1. Bon Appetea – If you want to enjoy a full milk tea experience, then I recommend it due to its taste and flavor of a great milk tea. The list of flavors in their menu is just right to accommodate every milk tea lovers needs. They have this distinct delicious taste that separates it from the rest. The place is cozy and more of a relaxing environment were you can enjoy your drink.
So that’s it, these are my choices, though some might not agree on me on this one, but this more of a preference and my personal point of view.It all boils down to your personal choice and taste as well. Since the coffee/ Milk tea shop is still continually growing , this might change or updated according to the latest trends. You can also use this as a guide and view other Milk tea reviews not included in this blog.
I think this one of the pioneering milk tea shop here in Cebu, the Bubble Bee Tea House has been in the scene for many years. They have a good location here in SM City Cebu, before it was just a small stall, now they have their own location which is near Cyberzone and Forever 21. Though they have other many branches here in Cebu.
I tried the usual and most favorite milk tea, the Pearl Milk Tea, well, I couldn’t be more honest than this but based on the taste, its just not that great, really. It could have been better really if I haven’t been to a lot of Milk Tea Shops already, but yes, it is kinda disappointing, hopefully its just an isolated branch scenario.
Bubble Bea Tea House Cebu
One thing I have observed is their ‘sago’ or Pearls, the texture isn’t just right, it is as if the pearls are bought in a cheap store or the quality isn’t that good. I think they must not sacrifice the quality with cheap ingredients because sooner or later , food enthusiast and bloggers will notice it.
Overall, it is not the best Milk Tea based in their standard and reputation. Hope the other branches are not like this, I am not generalizing the whole branch really, I just hope it is just a pure bad luck with bad ingredients or way of doing in both our ends.
One of the most popular milk tea shops in Manila and in Taiwan as well is finally here in Cebu. The Chatime Cebu Coffee Shop located in in Ebloc2 IT Park Cebu City.
It was not easy locating the coffee shop especially when you are not familiar with Cebu IT park especially their buildings. Ebloc2 is located beside skyrise 4. You cannot locate the shop immediately, you will have to go to near entrance to see it. If you have been to Army Navy Cebu then you have no problems finding it.
The environment is bright and bubbly, though personally , I’m not a fan of it. The chairs and table are colorful, their theme is violet by the way. The place is spacious and can accomodate huge number of people. The place at that time was very very cold, Some customers even have to stay outside because of the cold. I even felt the cold even I was wearing a jacket.
In counter, ordered their top 2 best sellers, one is their Chatime Pearl tea and the one is Chatime Chocolate Mousse. The line was long and waited a couple of minutes before I got the chance to order and I think it was worth it. They will also give you the lighting device which will light up when your order is ready for pickup, this is similar to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.
I tasted their number 1 best seller the Pearl Milk Tea, I was expecting it to be very good and was not disappointed indeed. It is really that good and tasty, if I rate the taste, it is very close to Bon Appetea, which I think they are tied in terms of taste. Pearls are also fresh and you can really feel the right texture in it.
For first time customers, you will receive a membership card when you order which if completed (stamps) you will get a regular drink for free.
Overall, it was a good milk tea experience, they are living up to their expectation and reputation which is great. The location though is kinda secluded but it will be worth it when you get there.
Another Milk Tea store in Cebu is the Cobo Milk Tea, though there are still new, they already have 4 branches here in Cebu. Though they are popular in the Luzon Area, that doesn’t stop really their expansion event with the number of Milk Teas here.
Though their branch location mostly are in most, their prices are not really that expensive, ranging from 80 – 100 pesos ,you can already enjoy their Milk Tea goodness.
The space is just enough about 4 – 5 tables, enough for movie goers having a little drink or just take out to the cinema. Environment is colorful and alive which will further enhance your appetite (as psychology stated) 😀
The taste of the drink is really what is stated in the Menu, the Royalle flavor for example has similar taste to the actual Royal Milk Tea pack. Their toppings is also unique, the usual toppings is the ‘sago’ pearls but in our drink, there is this gummy worms type of sago which is kinda new to me and the texture is just the right blend with our drink.
Cobo Awesome Possibiliteas Cebu
Overall, the drink is good, really, I mean for a mall type of milk tea outlet, they were able to maintain the usual Milk tea price without sacrificing the quantity and quality of the drink which is really a big plus for me.
