Restaurants these days can offer you a lot of choices when it comes to food, while some are also selling concept aside from their dishes. And that’s what Rodeo Grill is offering to its customers.
If you have been to their restaurant (Located in SM City Cebu), just getting inside the place, you can immediately tell that they are a Wild West themed establishment, a cowboy theme for some. It is a Cebuano based restaurant which is also owned by a Cebuano.
There is also in the culture inside the restaurant which is unique. Their waiters are called partners and their boss are called Sheriffs which is quite fun to know. It also improves their customer service by having the passion of doing the cowboy themed ambiance.
They offer dishes that are mostly meat and sizzlers which is popular in the wild west. Since they are here in Cebu, they have to balance between making the food western style and having the traditional flavors Filipino like or used to eat. For Cebuanos its more salty while in Manila its more sweet.
For their food, they have a lot of choices to choose from. They have sizzlers, baby back ribs, drinks and desserts. Their chefs are also well trained in making these dishes. In fact, their head chef was a former chef in Doha serving the King.
What I like about their food is that it is served hot and fresh. One of my favorite is their baby back ribs which they confidently told us that it is the best in town even better than those popular restaurants serving baby back ribs (Casa Verde) which is quite true when I tried it. Just hope they will be consistent in having a great taste food.
The food presentation is also good as it is served with their grilling plate if you’re ordering their sizzling dishes.
They make comfort food the makes you feel at home which they maintain that flavor Filipinos like. They also served alcoholic beverages like beer but they only served it to foreigners since they are the customers who mostly ask for beer beside their food. They also wanted it to be more family and barkada friendly for Filipino customers.
Aside from main dishes, they also serve desserts, they have this Mango Ice Box Cake, which is popularly know here as Mango Float, it was actually great and the mango is sweet which just melt in your mouth with the cream.
I was not expecting to see a Blueberry cheesecake in the menu but I was luck to try it, not only it looks good but tasted good as well.
Then there’s the Choco Bang Bang which is a brownie filled with ice cream, which is just heavenly in the taste buds. Hope their serving size improves 🙂
Overall, it was a great dining experience, it feels like your in the Wild West while eating their food and still maintain that local taste and flavor that well balanced and definitely will satisfy your hunger while experience something new and unique. I definitely recommend Rodeo Grill restaurant for those who loves meat and wants to feel a cowboy in a day 🙂

One of the know and oldest Lechon restaurants here in Cebu is Tatangs Extra Crispy and Boneless lechon. Their main branch is located in Wilson Street Lahug Cebu City. The place has a small dining area probably becausre their focus is more on the take out orders.
They offer mainly lechon. But this time they have their own version of lechon wraps where lechon slices are placed in taco wraps similar to shawarma style wrap. Though you need the lechon meat to be boneless meaning you have to choose the lechon belly as the wrap filling, you can put other veggies and herbs in the wraps according to your preference.
My favorite is their spicy lechon belly where you almost don’t need any sauce to eat the tasty lechon. The meat is evenly cooked and the lechon skin is crispy and spicy as well.
A popular pinoy dish is the sisig and they have the lechon version of it, though it can be too oily and fatty for some, it is one of the best sisig I’ve tried. Just watch you intake for your cholesterol count 🙂
If you love chicharon they you will also love this cripsy lechon version of it where instead of the fat and skin, the meat is minced and cooked to get that crispy chips like texture where you can just enjoy eating it without rice.
When you speak of lechon, there will be always be the ‘Dinuguan’ dish which is a popular Filipino dish, some called it the blood porridge.
One of my favorite is their Pork Kare Kare where big chunks of pork meat are cooked to perfection which tastes like your traditional Kare-kare.
Overall, their lechon is good, especially the spicy lechon belly. The lechon wrapp is a unique addition & the lechon kare-kare is a must try. Just watch your cholesterol and bp level before and after eating 🙂
I came to visit this small restaurant due to its active promotion through online especially in FB. It actually worked since I got to experience their food. Located in a seemingly inner part of a large lot beside Elizabeth Mall Cebu, Rodeo Grill Cebu is one of the new grill establishment right in the center of the Queen of the South.
As stated in its name, they offer mostly grilled dishes and purely meat choices. They have only few food choices and barely a single themed setup. The exterior of the store is somewhat like a small wooden cabin located in the spacious vacant lot, the surroundings are not yet landscaped but great for those who want a good parking space.
The interior is theme like the western cowboy like. With the wooden tables and chairs just like a cowboy tavern , the waiters/waitresses wear a striped polo as uniform similar to a cowboy or a country singer 🙂 Place is small, cozy and clean. Inside is an airconditioned part and they also have tables outside which I don’t recommend because it is hot except when their are no vacant tables inside.
We ordered one of their specialty, their Cowboy Meals which includes the Rodeo Grill Cebu Lechon de Cebu price at 149 pesos. It is a complete meal with Cebu lechon and rice. The taste is good and the lechon is a typical Cebu lechon flavour which is great.
Next is their Paolo’s Porky Pistols priced at 99 pesos, it is a two barbeque meal with rice, it is actually affordable for a meal with two big sized barbeque meat. It is tasty and rightfully cooked to its texture.
Next their all time favorite, the Geronimos sizzling pochero. One of the best sizzling pochero I have tasted (tried it before at Manggahan Cebu ) serving is ok and the gravy is really good. You can almost scraped the remaining gravy sauce in your spoon. The pochero meat is just right in the mouth and not too soft.
Overall it is a gastro appetizing experience, price is just right for the common employee, I even see lots of students dining at Rodeo Grill Cebu, it is also a good place if you want to take your special someone here especially if both of you are into food and that’s exactly what I did 🙂

One thing that I look for a restaurant other than its tasty food is the affordable price without sacrificing the quality ans services of the place. Though good food dining equates to price, it is still important to know that great food and dining must be expensive and expensive food equates to great food dining. However this is one of the few restaurant or restobars here in Cebu that offers quality food and service with affordable price plus the great interior concept, ambiance, and offers genuine Filipino food, the Manggahan Restaurant Bar and Grilling.
At first, the place looks very nice in the exterior part, just along the Wilson St. Apas, Lahug. The surrounding looks very clean within the vicinity with and you can see lots of plants and some trees which makes it a very good hangout place for office workers if you want to chill and just relax far from the busy downtown life.
“Manggahan”, in Cebuano a place where mango trees are planted. The Idea of the name was taken from the big Mango Tree at the back of the restaurant. The Old Mango tree becomes the higlight of the garden.
Another highlight of this restaurant is their Sugba (Yakiniku) way of cooking which is popular from various Japanese Yakinuku restaurant and also very Pinoy.
Each table is installed with a tabletop grill along with abuilt-in exhaust, giving customers the free hand to cook their own bbq to their preferences andgetting to eat freshly cooked items without leaving the place smelling like dinner.
This is the first restaurant I have seen a conventional table grill similar to the once you see on popular barbeque BBQ spots in the streets with its exhaust sucking up the smoke within the table (like a vacuum) instead of the exhaust install above the table.
Ok, lets get into the main event, their food, they have various dishes to choose from, if you want to really try their sugba food, you can order their grill items in which my opinion, the most affordable in any restaurant I have visited.
Here are some of their Grilled Items with prices
Tinae sa Manok barbeque – 6 pesos
Pork Barbeque – 6 pesos
Skinless Chorizo – 7 pesos
Grilled Chicken Skin – 7 pesos
Batikon sa Manok Barbeque – 9 pesos
The grilled items are served fresh and ready to be grilled (sugba), you can also request for sauce and marinade to add taste and flavor to it.
It is your way of cooking or grilling that will make the dining experience more fun and fulfilling, it is not everyday you get the chance to sugba/grill your food in front of your table and just munch it after it cooks.
This is also great for group of friends or barkada who wants to have a unique and different dining experience by preparing the food without getting bored by just waiting it to be served and just eat right away. It is a good way to brag your sugba /grilling skills (if you have :D) in front of your friends/relatives/officemates or introduced it to somebody and even teach them to do the sugba style. 🙂
Aside from their grilled items, they also offer exotic dishes such as hito prepared in an engaging variety, fried bakasi and sizzling crocodile sisig. Prices of each of these items are all below 200 pesos which is amazingly affordable.
Overall, had a great grilling/sugba experience, a great addition of food trip destinations especially when you are from the downtown area and just want a semi hidden hangout place (before it gets popular which is very possible), great place for office team bonding or even family gatherings. This restaurant definitely worth a try.

One of delicious sizzlin steaks here in Cebu is the Sizzlin Pepper Steak, the small is not really that big (Ayala Terraces) but it is cozy and you can tell that it is a Japanese themed restaurant.
You can see a vacuum like device hanging to absorb the smoke from the sizzling steak and prevent the smoke from spreading around the place.
The food is mostly japanese with a mix of modern dishes. They mostly offered steak (their specialty), they have also other dishers from beef to noodles.
They wrapped their sizzling steaks in a card board like paper, maybe to prevent spillage or direct contact with the smoke because it is really hot, in fact the meat inside will cook a bit just by just putting it there.
It is interesting that when the steak is served you have to mixed the meat directly or turned it the other side to cook it (maybe serve in half cooked), and their popular sauce that is mixed in the steak that produces wonderful smell.
Overall, the food and service is good, though a little expensive for a regular consumer (those who are used to fastfood), but it is still worth a try for those who love Japanese cuisine and Sizzling steaka the same time.
